Unfortunately as being pet owners who love our family pets, one of the circumstances we have to deal with is the loss of our beautiful and very loved pet. No matter how much the thought of that happening is very distressful, it is a part of life that happens to all pet owners.
When the death of our pet occurs, I do not think we realize how hard it can hit us. Especially, if we have had an older pet that may have become ill. You think that you are prepared for their passing, so it may not be so difficult when it finally happens.
But with any loved one that passes away, you are never totally prepared for it, even if you were expecting it sooner then later to happen.
I was the proud owner of a wonderful orange male cat, who was diagnosed with diabetes. His name was Benjamin. Our Benjamin required 2 shots a day for 8 years. So for those years we only took vacations where we could rent pet friendly homes and stay for awhile. We did not go away for weekends or short trips, because we had to give Benjamin his shots.
Now naturally he could of stayed at our vets, or we could of showed someone else how to administer his shots, but being crazy pet lovers we wanted him to be with us.
When Benjamin passed away, believe it or not, we missed our daily routine of giving him his shots and being their for him. Which goes to show you no matter how much work our pets may have been, we still miss them like crazy.
All our friends thought we were probably kind of relieved that it was finally over. They thought now we could take short holidays or travel anytime and not have the worry over our cat. Well needless to say, they were wrong. When you lose your pet no matter the circumstances it is extremely painful.
That is why you should openly grieve for the loss of your pet. Admit how very sad and depressed you are feeling. If you need help with the loss of your pet your should seek it out. We have tremendous resources today that can help us in our time of grief.
I know this is a old and standard cliche', but in most cases it is very true "time does heal" our pain and loss.
I find whenever we have family get togethers, like recently over the holidays, more times then not, the conversations always end up with discussions over the family pets that we had the good fortune of having over the years.
And it would seem, the one constant in our conversations about our family pets is laughter and joy. It seems weather our pets are with us at the time or have passed on, the one guarantee about animals is they will make you laugh.
When they are still with us, they are an endless source of entertainment. Especially when we seem a little down or sad, they seem to have a sixth sense about it and start doing some crazy thing that will make us laugh.
When they have passed, and we start reminiscing about the different family pets that we have had over the years it always brings laughter and some tears. But that is another thing our pets do for us, they have the ability to bring families together, because it is always one subject everyone can agree upon. We all loved our pets and still miss them.
For the millions of pet owners and pet lovers around the world, we now have access to various programs and web sites that can help us with so many different situations that arise in our everyday life concerning our pets.

Tips For Your Pets In Summertime
Everyone loves the summer, especially our cats and dogs. For that reason it is up to us to keep them safe.
The heat is just as dangerous to our pets as the cold, that is why we have to be very careful when our dogs are outside.
I said dogs, because I hope all you wonderful cat owners keep your cats safely indoors. They have no reason to be outside.
It is a myth that cats must go out, they do not. I have had stray cat come to live with me and stay indoors. They lead very happy lives. My one old orange cat named George was with me for 20 years and never went back outside.
Well he did twice, but not by my choice.
Tip 1. When your dog is outside make sure he is in a fenced yard or on a leash. Never let your dog run on
his own. You may think he or she is well trained, they are still animals and can get distracted very
easily. That is why you here so often about dogs getting hit by cars. They run into the street, it is not
their fault, their owner did not have them on a leash.
Tip 2. Never leave your dog out all day unattended. Do not go to work and leave your dog outside. That is
cruel and inhumane. Only have them out when you are there. Otherwise keep them safely indoors.
Tip 3. Make sure your pets have lots and lots of water. They can become dehydrated very quickly in the
heat.
Tip 4. When they are outside with you make sure they have shade to sit in. They can get skin cancer just
like us, so being in the sun constantly is not good for them.
Tip 5. Cats love to sit in an open window in the summertime. With a screen in it naturally. Make sure
screen is secure. I had two cats fall out of windows, no harm to either cat but frightening to me.
Tip 6. Finally and most important please do not leave any animal in a car. Not for a second, or a minute.
Not even with the windows cracked open. You may think you are just going to run into the store
quickly and be right out. It only takes a couple of minutes for your beloved pet to die in that car.
Animals do not have to go the store with you. If you want to do something nice for your dog take them for a morning and or evening walk. Dogs love to go for walks with you and the walk is very good for your health.
I hope these simple summertime tips will keep you and your pets happy, healthy and safe.

Natural Home Remedies For Our Pets

Are you a pet owner and pet lover who is afraid of some of the over-the-counter products on the market today.
Would you like to find out about natural home remedies for your dog and cat?
I am a proud cat owner.
I love all animals and over the years have acquired cats and dogs off the street and from shelters.
I had quite a few stray cats that lived very long and happy lives. Four of them made it to 20yrs of age a one made it to 23 yrs old.
16 years ago I went to the SPCA and adopted 2 kittens. I had not had a kitten for many many years. I always had older stray cats. Who I loved very much.
I keep my cats indoors, and bringing in an old stray takes allot of work to litter box train. And many times 18 years later your still training.
So I wanted for once in my life to get kittens and see what it is like to have clean cats in the house.
I know it sounds so selfish, but I just wanted a rest.
Anyway I got my wish. I adopted 2 precious kittens. One was very sick but she pulled through. She was only 5 weeks old and neutered. I think the operation took allot out of her.
I am totally for spaying and neutering animals. Our SPCA was doing it to all young cats. I applaud them for doing it, I just think it might of been a little to early on my kitten. But it worked out and she is fine.
We also adopted a male orange cat. Who was never fine. Our Benjamin, first broke his hip when he was a year old, then got crystals in his kidneys and finally ended up with diabetes.
He died at 13 yrs of age.
I didn't mean to go on for so long to reach my point, sorry.
I just wanted to say, that it seems our pets do not live as long as they did before. I maybe off base here.
But maybe our pets are over exposed to chemcials.
When ever I am speaking with people about their dogs and cats it seems to all of us that our animals get sick more often.
Maybe like us, their immune systems are not as strong any longer and cannot fend off various diseases.
So whenever you can, I suggest you look into the many natural home remedies for pets and see if they work for you.
It cannot be bad to cut down on some of the commercial products we use for our cats and dogs.
